On the 16th April, 2016 we were awarded a grant cheque from Worthing Community Chest for a new bench in Homefield Park.
We hope it will be a well received resting spot for all those who visit the park.
Please join us on Easter Monday for our annual park clean up event. We will be starting the clean up at 10am and hope to rid the park completely of all rubbish and waste. We ask that you bring along gloves to wear, we will supply all other equipment. The Easter Egg Hunt will follow at 11am for all of those who helped out, where prizes will be won.
Please join us for our AGM on Saturday 23rd January 2016 to be held at East Worthing Community Centre at 2.30pm.
Andy Edwards, Worthing Council’s Parks and Foreshore Manager, has recently confirmed that at the Joint Strategic Committee meeting at the beginning of December it was agreed that the Council would finance the refurbishment of both the Skate Park and the tennis courts in Homefield Park.
The skate park refurbishment will include complete resurfacing of the existing ramps as well as the addition of new ramps for wider age groups to use. The intention is to make the skate park more family friendly.
Thanks to the efforts of Tony Lelliott, Clive Roberts and Colm Sweet, the council will also be covering the cost of making the tennis courts into a Multi Use Games Area. The new multi-sports all weather surface will enable tennis, short tennis for younger children, disabled football, winter football training for Worthing Town Football Club, basketball, cricket, netball, bowls all seasons and more!
Work on these projects are due to start around March 2016.
If you have been keeping up with us on Facebook you’ll know by now that Homefield Park has a wonderful new little community garden called The Haven. With special thanks to Pauline Cory and the Transition Worthing Greenspaces team our community garden scheme got underway in September 2015. You’ll find it on the south side of the tennis courts and we welcome anyone and everyone to come and lend us a hand in building and maintaining it.
Please keep checking our Facebook page for future announcements and calls for help and to keep up-to-date with it’s development.
On Saturday 1st August the East Worthing Festival will be in the park from 2pm – 5.30pm.
This free annual event will host a mega car boot sale, bouncy castles, charity stalls and free entertainment.
Friends of Homefield will be there hosting a free Bug Scavenger Hunt for the kids, a raffle for the grown ups and we’ll be be asking you to help us design a community garden in the park. Come and see us and get involved!
