Please join us for our AGM on Saturday 23rd January 2016 to be held at East Worthing Community Centre at 2.30pm.
Andy Edwards, Worthing Council’s Parks and Foreshore Manager, has recently confirmed that at the Joint Strategic Committee meeting at the beginning of December it was agreed that the Council would finance the refurbishment of both the Skate Park and the tennis courts in Homefield Park.
The skate park refurbishment will include complete resurfacing of the existing ramps as well as the addition of new ramps for wider age groups to use. The intention is to make the skate park more family friendly.
Thanks to the efforts of Tony Lelliott, Clive Roberts and Colm Sweet, the council will also be covering the cost of making the tennis courts into a Multi Use Games Area. The new multi-sports all weather surface will enable tennis, short tennis for younger children, disabled football, winter football training for Worthing Town Football Club, basketball, cricket, netball, bowls all seasons and more!
Work on these projects are due to start around March 2016.
If you have been keeping up with us on Facebook you’ll know by now that Homefield Park has a wonderful new little community garden called The Haven. With special thanks to Pauline Cory and the Transition Worthing Greenspaces team our community garden scheme got underway in September 2015. You’ll find it on the south side of the tennis courts and we welcome anyone and everyone to come and lend us a hand in building and maintaining it.
Please keep checking our Facebook page for future announcements and calls for help and to keep up-to-date with it’s development.
We are now uploading the minutes of each and every one of our monthly meetings onto our website so you can keep up to date with all that we are up to.
You can find a link to the minutes via our Meetings/Minutes page along with the date, time and venue of our next meeting.
Please come along to our meetings if you can, especially if you have something you’d like to say or contribute. Alternatively please send any comments or suggestions you may have via the ‘Have Your Say’ comments boxes on our website or, if you don’t mind going public, post them on our Facebook Page.
We have noticed that there is now a group of homeless people camping out in the park and have been in contact with the council regarding this. Their response was as follows:
“The Council is aware that there has been an increase in the number of trespassers on this land and that there are now seven tents on the land. A possession order is already in place on this land and the Council will be taking action to affect the removal of the trespassers forthwith.”
We will keep you up to date with any further developments regarding this matter.
